Description:
A presentation based on the evidence and on 20 years of experience with hospice and palliative medicine helps to integrate all of the interpersonal and clinical knowledge available to help deal with this unanswerable question.
Objectives:
- Participant will define Physician Assisted Suicide and clarify related concepts
- Participant will describe the current status of these issues legally and ethically
- Participant will identify root causes of suffering that may prompt requests for a hastened death
- Participant will summarize the range of indicated responses to these requests, including a simple protocol, thus Enabling Clinicians to better meet most patients’ needs in this difficult situation.
