Description:
This module focuses on care at the actual time of a child's
death, emphasizing the preparation necessary to ensure the
best care at this critical event in the trajectory of illness.
Objectives:
- Assess physical, psychological, social, and spiritual
care needs and interventions for an imminently dying child
and his/her family.
- Discuss five responsibilities of the nurse following the
death of a child.
- Identify personal experiences with death; and describe
resources the nurse can access when seeking support in
caring for the dying child and his/her family.
