This presentation provides a thorough description of aspects
of the Medicare Hospice Benefit that are important for all staff
to know in order to perform their jobs more effectively. A review
of features of the Medicare Hospice Benefit, including eligibility,
election, certification and recertification of terminal illness
and levels of care help hospice staff better understand how
hospice care is provided and organized.
Objectives:

Hospice Benefit
- Participant will state the eligibility requirements for
hospice
- Participant will describe how payment is made under the
Medicare Hospice Benefit
- Participant will list the levels of care available to
hospice patients
- Participant will describe the difference between discharge
